Please let whoever shot the fireworks off on Green Meadows Drive in Jackson know that everyone who we had over really enjoyed the whole fireworks display.
It is beyond my comprehension why a private business owner must compromise their own moral values and beliefs. Why have some people been so worked up about the Hobby Lobby providing health insurance that does not cover certain types of birth control? We all must make difficult decisions and choices in this life. Job seekers should simply not apply for a job that does not have the benefits or work requirements you need or want. Life is full of difficult choices and decisions. Oh, and by the way, I am very happy for the victory of rights that came down from the Supreme Court for Hobby Lobby.
I would like to know how Michelle Obama can sit up there in the White House and tell high school kids and grade school kids to eat carrot sticks with ranch dressing, when she sits up there and eats chicken wings and $400-a-can caviar, Black Russian caviar.
A June 29 headline quoted Rev. Bonner's calling the recent gun violence in Cape the result of "demonic forces," and he's right. Our governments and society in general have done their best to remove any mention of God outside of the church building, and the devil has taken over. Some of these young people never hear the name of God except in a curse. Parents need to start bringing their children to church -- not drop them off -- but bring them with you and all of us need to move closer to our Lord.
I really enjoyed the Jackson church tour on June 29. What a great chance it was to see some of the town's beautiful churches and learn their history. I'm looking forward to more Jackson bicentennial events.
Years ago at the Democratic National Convention, Gov. Ann Richards made the comment about George Bush saying he can't help he was born with a silver foot in his mouth. Well, I think the same thing is painfully more true with Obama. The only difference is both of the Bush presidents were grounded in their faith, could see beyond special interest groups, and had the best of the American people in mind when making decisions, while Obama is a puppet and doesn't have enough sense to make any kind of presidential decisions on his own.
What kind of world is it when it's OK for a guy to sit outside a daycare center in Jackson, video tape the daycare, accuse someone of something that didn't happen, yet the owner never questions why the guy is sitting there with the video camera? It's a sick one, that's what kind of world we live in.
Regarding Proposition K. It states: solely for the purpose of raising your taxes for the well being of the children. The state has dozens and dozens of programs spending millions for children. Local churches and donations from tax-paying people provide all they can. Prop K is concerned about the safety of our children. Cape County has a great deal of schools in the area. Why not let retired people and volunteers play and teach our children? The value of giving time and volunteering for our community will pay dividends for a long time. That's a win-win. Taking money out of our pockets is not a win.
The portrayal of the president in Sunday's Opinion Page cartoon was disgusting. After all, he is the president of this country, although I know your newspaper wishes he wasn't.
I think nobody should leave babies in the car or young kids in the car on a hot a day. And I think no person or persons should abuse cats or dogs, or horse or cattle, or anything like that, or kill animals or cats, or leave their children in hot cars.
