New blood

THE PEOPLE of this country have a right and responsibly to elect officials to help our country. The people who have been elected believe they belong in office. However, the people who have been elected are so out of touch with the people who elected them that they do not do what is in the best interests of their constituents. It is our responsibility to tell our representatives what we want and need. If they continue not to do what the constituents want, then it is our responsibility to vote them out of office. Our senators and representatives need to get back into touch with their roots, or we should elect new blood in Congress.

Other candidates

PEOPLE ARE complaining about the lack of a choice between voting for Barack Obama or John McCain for president. But there are more than two candidates running for president. It is not a two-party system, unlike the popular myth would like you to believe. I am currently looking at Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party and Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party.

The king is dead

We put up a good fight.

Did all that we can do.

It's time now to relax.

This Brussels Lite's for you.

Thanks for honesty

AN EMPLOYEE of Wal-Mart found my purse in a shopping cart. Thank you so much, Chris. I am so grateful for your honesty.

Doing the job

I WOULD like to tell all of the people who say President Bush is doing a horrible job to look back at President Carter. Bush has not done that bad of a job, considering the hand he has been dealt. I do not agree with his spending habits. However, he has made decisions (right or wrong) and stuck with those decisions. I do not believe either one of the two candidates running today have the fortitude to do that. If people want to talk about a bad job, they should look at the Democratic Congress they elected.

The consequences

DAVID LIMBAUGH'S increasingly irrelevant and lame histrionics continue exclusive and full-fledged scaremongering attacks on Barack Obama. Is Limbaugh not familiar with the law of unintended consequences?

Blitzkrieg

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac,

They both are going under.

The New World Order marches on

Ripping us asunder.

Slow down and save

I'D LIKE to cast a vote for a lower speed limit on the highways. Last weekend I went to St. Louis. Usually I get about 17 miles per gallon in my vehicle driving at 70 mph. Last weekend I elected to set my cruise on 60 and see what it would do. I recorded 21.4 miles per gallon. Of course, I was passed several times, and I didn't pass anybody going up. I passed one vehicle coming back. People shouldn't complain about the price of gasoline unless they're willing to do something about it by slowing down.

The oil mess

PRESIDENT BUSH said the failure of Congress to act on offshore drilling is unacceptable and that legislators not listening to the American people. I've got news for President Bush. He hasn't been listening to the American people either. If he would have done what he should have done with the Saudis, this huge increase in oil prices never would have happened. Put the blame where it lies, Mr. President: squarely on your shoulders. Don't put it off on the Democratic Congress. Congress needs to pass it, yes, to get us out of the mess that you got us into.
