I am embarrassed that the leaders of Cape Girardeau announced the city could not afford fireworks this year. Look at all the smaller towns around us that had fireworks. If we can't afford fireworks, how can we afford the DREAM Initiative or the aquatic park? I am appreciative of the organization that held the fireworks celebration at Arena Park. Without them we would have had nothing. However, it just isn't the same as having it on the riverfront that so many enjoyed in the past. Shame on you, city of Cape Girardeau, for making us a laughingstock of other towns.
PIT bulls need our help. They are what humans made them, and now we have turned our backs on them.
