With regard to the recent Missourian article about criminal activity in the 200 block of North Lorimier Street: I agree with the neighbor who stated most of it is centered on the two apartment buildings at 234 and 235 N. Lorimier. I have never understood why the city ever allowed the building of the one at 235. It is crammed onto a lot between two single-family dwellings, with only a few feet of clearance on either side. Further, these apartment buildings are within a few hundred feet of the Marquette/H.-H. Building project. Do those investors want this kind of criminal activity in their near neighborhood? I suggest condemning both buildings and tearing them down, leaving green space, which would be appreciated by everyone living and/or working in the area.
In response to the comments about abortion: No matter what you say, the death rate is 100 percent. None of those babies are coming out alive. If it is a woman's body, why did the man have to add part of his body to create that fetus? And why do men not start fighting for their rights? Women decide to abort, but if they decide not to, why can they sue the man for child support? Doesn't that tell us he had a part in the whole thing? Why does his body part not count until the baby is born? Does any of this really make sense to anybody? Men everywhere need to stand up and act like men! By the way -- I am not a man!
Is there any public facility in the area I can enter without having to hear it blaring? I mean, no sooner did I enter the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport than I heard not the deafening roar of an airplane, but -- you guessed it -- Fox News.
Great fireworks display in Jackson.
When are liberals going to get it? Criminals and terrorists do not obey laws! Laws and regulations mean nothing to them! Anyone who wants a gun will find a gun. There are hundreds of thousands available on the streets or for the right price! Only law-abiding citizens are going to obey gun laws. And you know something? Those people don't go on shooting rampages!
Voting in the primary election in Missouri stinks because you have to vote a party affiliation, not for the person of your choice. This should be changed. A person should not have to vote a certain party. All candidates should be on one ballot. This would probably even save the state money by not having to print separate ballots for each party.
A compound in marijuana may ameliorate or stave off Alzheimer's. Do our doltish state legislators understand what this could mean, and will they act accordingly?
