Wow, Southeast Missourian, way to reach an all-time low with the "ban dogs not guns" Speak Out comment you ran. This just shows the peak of ignorance in Missouri. You must not have to do your research when you submit something so stupid to Speak Out. First off, it's the owners not the dogs who are to blame. Second, do you know that you are more likely to be bitten by a cocker spaniel than a pit bull? Obviously not. But thanks for now showing your ignorance to Missouri, and thanks, Southeast Missourian, for posting that Speak Out post, because now there will be even more ignorance roaming around this place.

Obama's wisdom

It is a testament to the wisdom of the Obama administration that the economy is on the way back despite the big drag caused by the dumb sequestration.

Security first

I would rather have NSA looking for and finding information to keep someone from blowing me up. But it seems the people today have so much to hide, that they would rather take their chances of a bomb going off. Not me. Politics is corrupting our country.

Root of evil?

New research shows just thinking about money can lead people to lie, steal and make unethical decisions. Researchers at Harvard and the University of Utah conducted four studies. They got participants to subconsciously think about cash by showing them pictures of money or having them unscramble money-related phrases. Turns out those people were more likely to act unethically, whether it was stealing paper from the office or hiring a candidate who promises to share insider info on a former company. The study said exposure to money put the participants in a business mindset, leading them to think of monetary benefits over morals. The authors said the study suggests money can be more corrupting than previously thought.

Peaceful?

Why is our Nobel Peace Prize-winning president getting us involved in yet another war? What's the tally up to? Eight or nine?

Cowards

We are a nation of cowards. We have high-level officials perjuring ourselves, yet we don't do anything except accept their lies. We should be ashamed that our fathers and grandfathers fought and died for this country, yet we won't protect it.

Gas prices

Are we ever going to see gas prices fall below $3 per gallon? Seems with the Obama administration, this is a non-factor for him and all of his rich friends.

Common complaint

Speak Out has once again repeated the same Common Core demagoguery claim. I think the text is identical to the last time it was printed. It was a lie then, and it's a lie now. Shame on you to the caller and the editor.
