My wife and I eat frequently at Burger King on Broadway and were pleasantly and kindly treated by another customer recently. Blessed meal

Connecticut program

A recent Speak Out comment claimed that Connecticut was successfully controlling its deer population with birth control. I have thoroughly researched this subject and never heard about this program or any wild animal contraception program that actually worked. So I did a quick Google search. I found several articles, all of them at least two years old, about how the program in Connecticut was a complete failure and did not help with the problem.

Black and red?

A Speak Out caller claimed that JP Morgan posted a $4 billion profit and a $2 billion (now over $3 billion) loss at the same time for the same quarter. Yes, you read that right! At the same time, they were in the black and the red. How is that even possible? In the scramble to misinform, our GOP spokesman here on Speak Out is trying to tell us that Wall Street does not need regulated because JP Morgan has somehow profited at the same time they've lost billions.

Sullivan column

I think it is really mean of Joe Sullivan to make fun of people who smoke marijuana. Not everyone who smokes marijuana is stupid or lost in a haze. President Obama smoked a lot when he was young but he turned out well. Stop picking on marijuana smokers.

Jensen column

I say the chances are doubtful. In an attempt at forging bipartisan consensus, longtime columnist Michael Jensen expressed hope that we could all at least agree that President Obama was brought up in an un-American way, that regulating the out-of-control financial industry is a bad thing, and that having the super-rich at least pay the income tax rate they did when budget-balancing Bill Clinton was president would be a bad thing.

Behind in school

I am sad. It takes me an entire school year to catch up to grade level in math and science. Then, just when I do, it's time for summer vacation. I don't have the help I need to keep up and always fall behind by the time school starts again. It's the same, year after year. Can't someone do something about this?

Marriage debate

It is clear to me that the institution of marriage exists as a tenet of the church as said by God in the book of Genesis. A man, a woman, one flesh. For our president or any government institution to weigh in on this issue appears to me to be a violation of church and state. A moral, not social decision. This is a precedent of what we can expect as the government begins to intrude on religion. As for gay marriage, I say let them have it. Just because you call a dog a cat does not make a it a cat.
