I'm calling about a salesman trying to sell senior citizens and college students 20-year-old vacuum cleaners. They sell vacuums that are older and different from those shown on the box. Beware of vacuum cleaner salespeople. God bless.
I bet that if the global warming people said that if everyone in the world jumped up-and-down at the same time, it would cause major earthquakes. And guess what? There are people who would believe that.
The saying, "You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything," is a good example of our culture, the Supreme Court and many of our so-called churches. The line has been drawn, and true Christians must now stand.
I am writing in response to the tax levy that the Altenburg School District 48 proposes to pass in August. This proposed tax levy is supposed to build a new school for 106 students. There are a number of students going to that school who do not live in District 48. They pay a small amount of tuition per family to send their children. I know there are other school districts that do not take out-of-district children for any reason. The only reason our high school children can choose to go to adjoining districts is District 48 has no high school. We taxpayers have to pay for this, too. Instead of buying the land to build the new school, the smarter thing would have been to use that money to fix the current school. There are some businesses that would not appreciate their taxes increasing. If this does happen, you could not blame these businesses if they consider leaving District 48. They say the tax amount would be 83 cents per $100 versus the current 77 cents. It may only be a six cents difference, but it still means our taxes are going to increase considerably.
Do you know how you can tell America's demise is certain? Watch money. Money is the barometer of a society's virtue. When you see that business transactions (buying insurance for example) is done, not by consent, but by government compulsion -- when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing -- when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors (politicians, unions, lobbyists, political donors, etc.) your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you. When you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice, you can know that your society is doomed.
Our president said this is no longer a Christian country, and he's implementing policies to make his words true. The important thing is, even if this country is no longer Christian, we must continue to be Christian people.
