I am on be bended knee begging society's movers and shakers not to take the economic advice on how to make the economic recovery grow even faster because the guy giving the advice (in a Southeast Missourian reprinted column) was an economic adviser to the president who led us over the precipice, the honorable George W. Bush.

Don't look now but polls now show that 2nd place in the Republican race for the presidential nomination belongs to none other than The Donald!
Someone who obviously never watches the news or gets out of their safe home said they can't for the life of them understand a parent giving their 21 year old son a gun. I certainly can. It's for the life of them! My daughter works in north St. Louis County. She has her concealed carry license; her father and I paid for her class. We also gave her a gun, and my husband takes her target shooting at least once a month. She leaves her office at 9 p.m., and the company refuses to provide any type of security. There are shootings and stabbings and muggings every day there. Some days 3 or 4 people are shot in area. Yes, she carries a gun because she needs to be able to protect herself.
Since 9/11, twice as many people have been killed in the U.S. by self-identified right wing extremists as by self-proclaimed jihadists.
Michael Jensen's editorial entitled "Trying on liberal clothes" represents the true Southeast Missouri Bootheel mentality.
I, too, believe that when children grow up to commit horrible crimes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. You need to look at the parents and the family environment.
I think the city needs to practice what it preaches. Across from the River Campus over there, where they put that nice brick-laid sidewalk in over there ... It's that new, real fancy inlaid brick. It's all covered up with weeds. The weeds are very tall. You know, they write tickets for people having tall grass, but I believe that's the city's responsibility there right across from the River Campus. Again, they spent tons of money putting in nice brick-laid, like the street, down for sidewalk. And it's completely covered up with grass. That needs to be corrected quick.
Though you would never believe it by reading the Opinion page of the Southeast Missourian, more of the American people than not approve of the Affordable Care Act.
A decision of the U.S. Supreme Court which deferred to the intent of Congress used to be considered a classical cornerstone of conservatism, properly understood. Today's so-called conservatives are really in favor of an activist Supreme Court as long as it makes decisions (irrespective of the U S Constitution) meshing with their agenda. When that doesn't happen, they scream bloody murder, hoping against hope to covert it into a wedge issue in the next election cycle.
