Thank you to the gentleman who found my wallet floating around in the Walmart parking lot during a recent storm. I'll never know who you are, but it's so nice to know that not everyone has gone to the "dark side."
I totally agree that the casino needs to ban smoking. I can't stand to walk through the doors. The smell of smoke was ridiculous. I will not frequent the casino until smoking is banned.
Scary. Praising George W. Bush for the performance of the stock market under his watch seems to indicate that the Speak Out caller who did so has been brainwashed to the point that he/she has no recollection of 2008.
Dr. Wayne Bowen's recent foreign policy fusillade was downright frightening. In his June 6 column, Bowen gave credit to Russia for at least being consistent and loyal in aiding and abetting the evil Assad regime in Syria and slammed the U.S. for taking a very cautious approach by refusing to hurriedly intervene militarily in what most consider to be a complex mess. Thank goodness Bowen's saber-rattling will have no effect on the cooler heads who correctly understand that Syria is no Libya and that a Bowenesque rush to military intervention on the part of the U.S. would be ill-advised and likely counterproductive.
A just-completed study confirms what those of us with common sense already knew. It is not poor teaching nor lack of the latest technology (give every student a computer!) that drives low performance. It is, plain and simply, poverty or what might be deemed low socio-economic status. Expensive area school investment in iPads or similar devices for each student will some day serve to reaffirm the truth behind those who realize we are so often taken in by the illusion of technique.
While Obama uses rose-colored glasses to view the economy, there is something definitely wrong when your health insurance monthly premium and purchasing gas to get to and from work eats up one half of your monthly disposable income. The liberals would be going nuts if this was going on with a Republican administration.
It needs to be recognized that at 5 p.m., every single driver in Cape Girardeau turns into an idiot.
The Obama administration makes the Nixon administration look squeaky clean. For those with their heads still in the sand, I feel sorry for them as well as the American people as by the time they are ready to admit that this president should have never been elected, it may be too late.
In general, Americans trust their government to keep them safe from terrorists. It is premature to write President Obama's political obituary. In fact, his aggressive stance in favor of the purpose and way in which meta data collection is being used may actually be to his advantage.
Wow! In reading the things Gary Rust highlighted in reference to U.S. foreign policy, Mr. Rust makes Sen. John McCain seem like an isolationist.
Yep, today's Republican party is far too liberal for Reagan. Just as the Democrat party of today is too Marxist for JFK.
It was deemed "a core part of the war on terror." Even though you are overexposed to Southeast Missourian reprints from The Wall Street Journal, this is one you will likely not see since it was a rousing defense of the NSA's surveillance program under President Obama.
Back to the drawing board. According to a recent study, 40 percent of designated drivers drink.
Now that the IRS has been turned into a political tool to target Americans, in conjunction with the PRISM program, nobody is safe if you disagree with those in power. Now is the time to abolish the IRS in favor of the Fair Tax.
Rather than reassuring Cape residents that the dramatic drop in attendance at the casino in no way means the casino could be a bust, he should be complimenting would-be patrons for quickly learning that it is foolish to so willingly part with their hard-earned cash.
Even the NRA leadership would be taken aback if they knew (maybe they do) the degree to which the Southeast Missourian's poll questions are loaded.
Just because Obamacare is far from being fully implemented is no reason not to blame it for all that ails mankind.
Why is everyone surprised by the casino support? Almost half the voters in Cape were not in favor of having a casino in the first place.
