I am calling about the trash rate. We didn't ask for those mechanical trucks in the first place, and we sure didn't ask for those garbage cans that break every time they pick them up. I don't know how they can charge us more for something we didn't ask for. Go back to the old trucks. This is absolutely stupid.
The city council must think residents are crazy. They're going to lower the water and sewer bill a dollar and raise the trash pickup 85 cents. They do this every time. You think the people don't see that?
I was wondering why they don't have a dollar show at the old theater that closed in the Town Plaza. Even a $2 show.
If everyone that has deer problems would try to use a fabric-softener sheet, it may scare them off. I put them on my flower pots last year and we haven't had a deer since.
Our president said he would reward his friends and punish his enemies. Indirectly the IRS, DOJ, EPA and most of the federal government does what the president wants. They are granting gifts to the friends of the president and are harassing the president's enemies. Why is anyone surprised at this level of corruption?
So some doctors are going to stop accepting insurance and go to cash only. They compare it to having to pay up front when you need car repairs. That is just plain stupid. Needing a car fixed can wait, but waiting for heath care can lead to death. If the government is going to force people to have insurance, then doctors should be forced to accept it. Did you choose to be a doctor to help people or because you thought you would make a lot of money? A lot of jobs require long hours and to be on call 24 hours.
On June 14, a wonderful event took place at Arena Park, the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. If you have never been to one I strongly encourage you to attend next year's event. Nothing beats looking out and seeing a sea of people in purple survivor shirts walking a track lit by luminaria bags. It is a very uplifting and emotional night. If you or someone you love has ever been affected by cancer, join the next relay. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Being 88 years young, I appreciated the article and picture of "historic wheat binding" at Egypt Mills. I was born and raised on a farm directly across the Mississippi River from Thebes, Ill. I was extremely proud the year I was allowed the privilege of driving the wheat bundle carrying wagon and pitching the bundles into the threshing machine. President Roosevelt had nothing on me.
Are we ever going to see gas prices fall below $3 per gallon? Seems with the Obama administration, this is a nonfactor for him and all of his rich friends.
The city just can't resist raising a fee. I guess that's what happens when you install liberal Democrats.
