Noisy lawn care

WHAT is it with people not having any neighborly manners? I've got a neighbor who mows his lawn at 9 p.m. with tractor headlights glaring in my windows. Another neighbor is so obsessed with lawn care that I was awakened before 7 a.m. to the noise of a weed eater. Can't a guy get some sleep?

Iran's election

SOME of our leaders want us to get in the middle of Iran's election problems. We didn't have anybody come here and try to change our election when George Bush won by questionable votes in Florida. We should keep our nose out of their election business and let their people solve their own problems.

Balance the budget

I could balance the U.S. budget in one day. I would abolish Social Security, all forms of welfare and Medicare and Medicaid. Doing away with these bloated programs would put $1,000 a month extra in average working people's paychecks. It would also force everyone to save for their own retirement. It would also force every family in the U.S. to take care of the old people in their families, which is what most every other country in the world does now, at least every nation that has a balanced budget or surplus. If every parent in the country knew that their children would take care of them later on, I bet there would be a lot less child abuse. I believe we should cut government to the bone and use it like the Founding Fathers intended. They only wanted government to defend the country and build interstate commerce and infrastructure. There is nothing in the Constitution about educating our children or regulating anything. They didn't even want a national tax. If we do these things, we could do without the national income tax. I guess if we implemented these changes there would be one big problem left --what would our legislators in Congress do?

Inspiration

PRESIDENT Obama's Father's Day address was inspirational and right on target.
