Tea party

I, too, believe tea partiers are troublemakers. This is America. If you don't like the way it's run, vote your mind not your party. Running around with anti-government signs only influences our children in a negative way, and I'm sure they will be the first in line for disaster checks from, you guessed it, the government.

Bush credit?

WHY are people giving Bush credit for going into Afghanistan? He attacked the wrong country. If done right the first time, we would have had bin Laden long ago.

Political story

I have to say I do not believe this whole story about Osama bin Laden being dead. If that man had truly had been killed as they're claiming he was, he would be paraded around the world, proof that here we have him. Quite convenient that he's killed and immediately buried at sea, no visible proof to anybody that he's actually dead. I think this is all a political story that was cooked up by the Obama administration.

Triumph for humanity

GETTING rid of Osama bin Laden is not only good for the United States, it is a triumph for all humanity.

Casinos and flooding

WHEN did the record flooding start? About 20 something years ago. When did we start getting casinos along the rivers? Probably about the same time. People might want to think about that.

Levee explosives

I don't know who decided how much explosives were needed to blow the levee, but I think they used too much. Just shortly after they blew it, it felt like we had an earthquake.

Bush's policies

For much of the Bush presidency the country was reeling from and then trying to recover from the devastating blow to the economy that occurred on Sept. 11. His policies kept things from being worse. I can only imagine what would have happened had Obama's policies been in effect at the time.

Certificate authenticity

WHY didn't President Obama just show the birth certificate when the controversy first came up? Makes you wonder if the one he came up with is real.

Blowing levee

WHAT was the Corps of Engineers thinking? By all means save Cairo, Ill., but do not think twice about destroying farmland, homes and towns in the bootheel of Missouri.

National Guard

I would like to thank the National Guard soldiers who were out all day and most of the night this week helping those in need from the flooding. Those soldiers are putting in very long hours, so if you see one, please thank them. Thank you again, National Guard soldiers.

Keeping us safe

THANK you, President Obama and former president Bush for keeping the pressure on bin Laden and bringing him to justice. We owe great gratitude to our intelligence agencies and especially to the SEAL team that went in and pulled it off. Great job!

GOP and seniors

A Speak Out commenter was correct that Republicans don't want to render current senior citizens homeless. It's future generation seniors.

Fighting terrorists

I don't especially like Obama, but give him credit for staying the course on bin Laden. The president now has an unequaled opportunity to put an end to the insane tactics of the extremists. Throw everything we have at them, put them back in their caves, and kill every one of them we can.

Limbaugh audience

RUSH Limbaugh recently said he was inundated with calls expressing concern that bin Laden's death would help President Obama get re-elected in 2012. I'll bet that upon reflection, Rush wished he hadn't said that because it gives a bit too much insight into the mindset of his audience.

Denying credit

SOME right-wing talk show hosts seem so determined to deny President Obama any credit for his commander in chief's role in taking out Osama bin Laden that they more than imply that they themselves got the job done.

Brilliant intelligence

I agree with the many experts who are saying the successful operation taking out Osama bin Laden is among the most brilliant intelligence operations in U.S. history.

Credit Bush, not Obama

I wonder how Democrats claim credit for getting Osama bin Laden when it was Bush who set this whole thing in motion. Obama merely followed the advice of the military, the group he insists on taking money away from.
