Guess what, Speak Out. The potholes have been filled with asphalt by Wink's on Lexington and Perryville Road. Thank goodness that somebody reads or listens to Speak Out, because that seems like the only way you get anything done in this town. Now, Speak Out, maybe you can send somebody from the city over to Kenneth Drive and replace the whole street, because the whole street is coming up.
It's Memorial weekend, and as you drive in the 1300 block of Big Bend Road, you see roses in bloom. I must say across the street is a beautiful row of red roses. Thanks to you and all the homes that are in bloom with flowers and the American red, white and blue. God bless.
This useless Congress is spending thousands, if not millions of dollars, on a witch hunt over Benghazi, as they think that is really important because there were four killed there. Because of Congress and the NRA, there were seven killed in California yesterday. Every day there are several killed right here in America because of them. I would guess there have been hundreds killed because of their actions.
The well documented national trend of hospitals buying up doctor's medical practices must stop. Unfortunately, Cape Girardeau has been in the vanguard of this movement. As time passes, there will be more and more pressure exerted on doctors to put the interest of the hospital ahead of the interests of patients.
As income inequality in the U.S. continues to dominate economic headlines, it should come as little surprise that CEO pay is hitting record highs, according to a new Associated Press/Equilar study. If it wasn't for good employees they wouldn't have a job, and there is no man on earth that is worth that much. No man can run a company by himself without any employees.
Someone said we have teachers in Sikeston who are standing up for students in opposition to Common Core. Sadly, these teachers don't know what they're talking about and have become pawns in a political chess game designed to feed on the paranoiac fears of the masses for gain at the ballot box.
I say students not be required to take any standardized tests. That way we will be able to at least think that all of our students are performing well in comparison to other local, state, national and international students. It's much more important to feel good about the performance of our students and it will enhance their self esteem as well. We can also deliver a blow to the highly profitable testing industry, one that produces tests whose results consistently make us feel bad about the performance of our students, particularly in relation to the almost 30 countries who rank above us. In addition, we would then be able to say that our students are the best achieving ones in the world and no data can prove us wrong.
President Barack Obama's reluctance to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline, despite widespread popular support for the project, is not only hindering America's energy independence but driving up the price of gas for American consumers. This is another Republican lie as the oil is going to be shipped overseas and not any help to the American people but the 1 percent oil stock holders. They close down refineries to make the gas prices stay higher. Nothing to do with the oil. Just wait. They lowered the gas prices for Memorial weekend, but watch them raise it for the rest of the summer. Also they will lower it just a little but then it always goes back to a higher price then it was before. Greedy is the name of their game.
Another shooting in a "gun-free" zone. The "gun-free" zone didn't stop him. Furthermore, the media is yet again ignoring that the troubled youth was heavily influenced by violent video games, per his own manifesto. The media should be ashamed of itself.
Went to Benton Raceway Park this weekend on Friday night and saw some of the best racing I've ever seen in my life. And I've been around racing for all my life. It is under new management. They're doing a real good job running the races. It's just an excellent place for people to have fun, for the whole family.
