I read about local opposition to the proposed new homeless shelter in this newspaper almost every day. Assuming there's a correlation between the number of local churches and the size of local Christian population, how is it possible there's not overwhelming support for the shelter? If we ask "What would Jesus do?" it's a no-brainer.
WHAT, no rock? This year's SEMO District Fair artist lineup is a joke. I know the past few years rock and roll has had great crowds -- Styx, REO and .38 Special, just to name a few. I'm so disappointed, and I probably will not attend the fair. Better luck next year.
THANKS for running piece on Pete Seeger, great activist and passivist American hero that he is.

I think it's very sad that Cape Girardeau opted out of the tax-free shopping for the school season in August. It's even more disappointing that I'm going to have to go out of town now to shop. I'm definitely going to go where I can save money. Cape Girardeau needs the money, but so do I.
I would like to thank the Jackson mayor and board of aldermen for not opting out of their commitment to the citizens and keeping the tax-free holiday. It will help so much at back-to-school time.
PLEASE allow Larry Rice to obtain the federal building on Broadway. We need to learn to do good to our fellow man.
