We're spoiled here. We have a beautiful town where people help each other and care. We have opportunities here. The cost to live here is low. I can overlook the city not paying for fireworks. I like the idea of the people who say the citizens can all pitch in. That's the good thing about this town. People here pitch in and help each other. I bet if you gave the people here a chance, they'd help pay for the fireworks. I'm grateful to live in a generous town.
Our culture is arrogant. We're exposing children to materialism and sexuality at younger and younger ages. What good can come of issuing an 8-year-old a preapproved credit card? What good can come of having easy access to pornography on the net? What good is it to redefine family away from one man and woman with children to two men or two women with children? I heard some TV psychologist say divorce doesn't affect children. That's idiocy. Do we think we can just give them iPods and iPads and iPhones and expect them to be OK with our selfish lifestyles? If we don't respect and protect children when they are most in need, most vulnerable, that is the womb, we don't respect or protect them anywhere. Any society without a healthy respect for life in all stages and that tries to redefine family, which is the most fundamental unit of the society, we are chopping down our own roots.
Got to love this: The conservative Heritage Foundation's study concluding that comprehensive immigration reform will be very costly is being attacked by fellow conservatives.
