Matter of jealousy
JEALOUSY IS a green-eyed monster. It says that someone doesn't deserve something because you don't have it. Leave the Shanks alone.
Political wishing
DAVID LIMBAUGH'S erroneous assumption that the Democrats won't get their act together in time for the presidential election is a classic example of the wish giving father to the thought. It is also an attempt to divert attention that in the U.S. House and Senate the GOP is going to take a beating of breathtaking proportions.
Family obligations
I AM a married woman with wonderful children. I am sick and tired of hearing about how hard single moms have it. Marriage is hard, and it's something that you have to work at. Giving up is not an option. Some chose to not get married because that would end their free money. Why should we keep having to pay for other people's mistakes? Our government has developed a system where hard-working married couples have to scrape by to have anything at all, while our tax money goes straight to the single moms. We help them pay for day care, medical care, food and housing. Many of them have their college paid for and are driving fairly new vehicles. My husband and I would be much better off financially if we would divorce and just live together. But it all comes back to that old word that's hardly ever heard anymore, but my grandparents and parents taught it well: morals. Check it out sometime. I guess some are just taught how to work the system. How sad.
Showing respect
My father passed away April 2. His funeral was April 5 at Scott City. He was buried at Fruitland. As the funeral procession went north on I-55, at the Route K exchange a car almost hit the family car behind the hearse and then proceeded to cut into the funeral procession. At the Cape-Jackson interchange another car almost hit the hearse as the driver talked on her cell phone and was in such a hurry to get on the interstate, then cut into the funeral procession. As I looked back, I saw two semi trucks that had slowed down and started blocking the cars behind the procession. I wish I knew who these truck drivers worked for so I could call the companies they are employed by and let them know how much this meant to us. I think it is very sad when you cannot take the time to pull over and show some respect.
