Down the drain
IF THE tax for a water park passes, we will literally throw tax money down the drain -- though for a good reason.
Within our means
WE WOULD like to live beyond our means just as our state and federal governments do. However, we have not yet found a way to get votes for an increase in our wages or Social Security. Therefore, we must continue to live within our budgets and do without things that are not necessary. Wouldn't it be a novel idea if our governmental agencies would consider doing the same?
Less than 30 cents
I SURE hope that before people show up at the polls to vote on Cape Girardeau's proposed tax increases they take the time to inform themselves regarding the issues. For less than 30 cents a day, we can provide badly needed improvements for our police and our firefighters and can also ensure that city employees can earn a decent wage and the city can meet its expenses. An added bonus would be a recreational facility that residents of Cape and surrounding communities could enjoy for years to come. I think all of us can afford 30 cents a day for these needed improvements. Please support our community and vote yes on April 8.
Don't need tax increases
LET'S EXERCISE our right to vote on April 8 and defeat these tax issues. With the war and issues we have no control over, we don't need tax increases.
Still getting calls
IN MY opinion, the anti-telemarketing no-call list in Missouri isn't working. We get between six and 10 calls a day from telemarketers. I wish the legislators would look into this.
Learning experience
REGARDING ALL the trash along the interstate: Why don't we have the kids who do poorly on the MAP test clean it up? It would give them a true idea of the kind of jobs they may be qualified for when they get out of high school. Maybe they'll realize they need to buckle down and try to get a good education.
