A Senate budget proposal also would reduce funding for the social services, health and mental health departments. Some Republicans say those agencies are wasteful, and resources, instead, should go to programs designed to help welfare recipients find a job or get a better job. This is what we pay taxes for. To help those in need. But the biggest problem is the greedy Republicans. They are the biggest waste of the taxpayers' money. Abusive salaries, pensions that are not earned and too much time doing nothing or damaging the American people's lives. I do not regret paying taxes to help the people, but I do regret paying taxes for our useless legislators.
I would like local area schools to report their stats for publication in the Southeast Missourian. Missouri ranks 19th among the states in the disproportionately large number of blacks, Hispainc and disabled students turned over to the authorities by schools.
Bob Miller, there's no need to get all upset about Governor Nixon's usage or lack thereof of a cellphone. I'm pretty sure Nixon's office is just messing with you, knowing as they do that no more than 2 percent of the readership served by the Southeast Missourian approves of the governor's performance, so what do they have to lose by getting you all riled up about a phony (pun intended) cellphonegate?
Please do something with the intersection at Lexington and Sherwood. People are constantly running through the stop sign at the four-way stop at Sherwood and Lexington. It is so dangerous, and I have seen so many near misses there with people not even yielding on Lexington. Just happened to me again, where somebody blew right through the intersection on Lexington. Please, please do something before somebody gets killed there.
I can't believe our new athletic director begins his tenure at SEMO University selecting a coach with a very similar record as the one he just fired. Coaches are rated by their won and lost record. That's the way it is. No matter how nice a guy a coach is, he has to win to advance his career. The Show Me Center hasn't drawn a crowd since coaches Shumate and Garner left. Looks like more of the same.
No matter how much you enjoy a Hardee's meal, if they market their food using scantly clothed women and sexual innuendos and we continue to ignore how they use these messages to entice customers, are we not allowing evil to triumph? We can speak out!
