We have always had an issue with people speeding on Gordonville Road, but since the roundabout was put in at the Gordonville/Independence intersection, it has gotten even worse! I had hopes that with the new police station opening so close by, there would be more oversight and control of this problem. So far that has not been the case. Apparently most drivers don't understand a 30 mph speed limit sign!...

Speeding

Witch hunt

Mueller's investigation, if that is what you want to call this witch hunt, has got so out of hand that he has more power than any government agency in the country and is flexing his self-assigned authority to dig until he finds something, anything to use against President Trump. In my 61 years I have never seen anything like this. I wonder what "dirt" we could dig up on Mueller if we could just keep digging until we found "something", which I'm certain we could. This guy is out of control and no one can touch him, and if any Republican even hints at reigning him in, it seems the blood that the Democrats want to taste is so consuming, they go nuts.

Greitens and Trump

Greitens is just a younger, prettier version of Trump. Why is his bad behavior being called out by local Republicans, but they are mum about the bad grandpa in chief?

No photo

They are wanting to impeach Gov. Eric Greitens without any evidence of a crime. Where is the photo! Where's the photo! If there is not a photo, there was no crime.

Mayor Fox

Congratulations to Dr. Fox. A great citizen of Cape Girardeau. We all hope that he can restore Broadway. The lighting and parking alone would be a great improvement.

Rust message

Jon Rust's recent riposte was to me a not too thinly veiled message to the Cape City Council to abide by Missouri's Sunshine Law and be more cooperative with the press so that the public can be informed as to what's going on and be in a position to provide valuable input before decisions are made. I strongly agree with Mr. Rust but doubt that his message will have much if any impact. After all, it is my belief that the council is almost filled with dyed in the wool Trumpitistas and that collectively they strongly adhere to President Trump's Stalinesque claim that the media is the enemy of the state.

Sheriff's office

There should be term limits for a sheriff, just like other political offices. Maybe this is something that needs addressed with the upcoming change in leadership.

Greitens due process

Greitens isn't guilty because he is accused.

'Christian privilege'

In response to the column regarding "Christian Privilege": It is the greatest privilege on earth to be a Christian, to have my sins forgiven and be washed clean by the precious blood of Jesus. Now I have the privilege of walking through life with Him while He works in my life to make me more like Him. What an indescribable privilege it will be to spend eternity in His presence, not because of anything I have done, but because He freely offers to all the wonderful privilege of becoming a Christian through faith in Him.

IRS no help

Exactly what good is the Cape Girardeau IRS office? If you go there with a problem you get standard stock answers that all mean the same thing, "go online and do it yourself." They never have an answer or solution for anything. And is if they haven't always been useless they are busy trying to make themselves even more useless. You used to could go in and take a number to talk to someone; now you have to make an appointment to be told they're not going to help you!
