JUST for the record, President Obama does not, has not and will not represent the true interests of the "middle class." As with all things, the "middle class" is just a term that Obama has picked up on that serves his political needs. I am firmly in the middle class by income and other means of defining middle class, and I completely disagree with everything that Obama stands for. He does not represent my views, my needs, my concerns, nor the needs and concerns of anyone I know who is in the middle class. He just wants to use us to get elected so that he can tap into our hard work and meager finances so that he can throw billions (now trillions) of dollars at his pet projects and pet groups who sit waiting for him to toss them the goodies.
WASN'T it fun to watch our ever-so-arrogant president shoot off his mouth about the Supreme Court, derisively referring to them as "unelected" individuals (as if they have no credibility or right to be ruling on his legislation), then watch his front men spend the next week trying to "explain" the president's remarks. He's on a roll! Wasn't it just a week ago he got caught on an open microphone telling the Russian president to just give him a little time, that he would have a lot more "flexibility" (wink, wink) after his upcoming election. Just what is it that he is going to be so flexible on? Obviously it pleased the Russian very much. Is our president so arrogant that he feels he is above everyone, even the Supreme Court?
MANY are frustrated at the high prices of gas and other petroleum products, and it keeps on getting worse. Who do you want to blame? Different polls show different people's opinions about what companies or whom may be at fault. It comes from the oil speculators and Wall Street investors. It definitely does not come from the president. Unless he directly works for OPEC, he has nothing to do with the price of oil going up. That's just nonsense to blame the president. He is just a focus point for people who are frustrated right now. I feel the speculators and the oil companies themselves are to blame. The price of gas can be manipulated so easily by just a hunch of the shoulders of these speculators and by the nod of a head by one of the leaders of OPEC. Still some blame the United States, and we are finally paying a price at the pump for our years of greed and dominance of the world's oil.
IN answer to the "Unnecessary printing" comment, they must believe that everyone has driver's licenses. That is the thinking of the Republicans that are benefiting with Bush's tax breaks. But they have it wrong. They should stop printing drivers licenses and just print a voter ID card and make that good for driving too, as it seems that is with the way people drive. No thought of other people.
SOMEONE said voter ID is unfair. The caller is half right. It's unfair only to Democrats.
Speak Out commentary
THOUGH currently assailed and derided as the lowest of the low, I believe history will judge that in truth there was no higher quality form of editorial commentary than Speak Out.
President's spending
SO President Obama is going to pay off people's mortgages and other people's student loans. Wow, is there no limit to how much of our money he can throw away or give away in order to get himself re-elected? Does he have any solutions to any problems that do not involve spending massive amounts of taxpayer money? All he does is spend. That's his solution for every problem. Is this really going to turn things around for America? He has spent more than all of the presidents who preceded him, and yet unemployment is still above 8 percent and will be for a long time. Is there a point where even his strongest supporters begin to question the wisdom and the effectiveness of his "solutions"? Time is running out for America, and Obama will soon run out of our money. What is he going to do then?
Classy champion
ANYONE who watched the Masters Tournament this year can feel safe that there is life after Tiger Woods on the PGA. What a great finish and a classy champion.
Cigarettes, heroin
CIGARETTES are more addictive than heroin and certainly more deadly.
