Birth control

IN response to the so-called hypocrites and birth control comment, I don't know what Catholics you are referring to, but even though I'm not a Catholic, I know many Catholic families. And they only have one or two children, one boy and one girl. Your comment is a fallacy and an insult. As for the fuss about birth control, as a Methodist, I do not think any church or church-owned organization should have to pay for medical coverage that is contrary to its long-held beliefs. People with other beliefs don't have to follow laws that violate their beliefs. The Amish do not have to serve in the armed forces, for example. So why should the Catholic Church and companies it owns be any different?

Creating jobs

THE truth is that neither the president nor Congress can create private sector jobs. You can help set up a better environment for businesses but not create jobs. Your future is in your own hands, the government is not going to do it for you no matter what party is in office.

Police merge

IF the Cape Girardeau Police Department does not have the funds to maintain its building and to save for the future to build a new building without raising taxes, then it might be a good idea to follow the lead of the police departments in some parts of the U.S. that are merging with the state police and sheriff's departments. The article I recently read said that it's much more efficient to merge and you still get the same service.

Cape roundabout

WHY waste several hundred thousand dollars to build a roundabout at the Lexington Avenue and Route W intersection when a traffic light would cost far less? The Missouri Department of Transportation's explanation that a traffic light would cause more congestion at Kingshighway is just not true. If anything it could help. Also, it would be a huge problem for tractor-trailer trucks to navigate, as the lanes probably would not be wide enough and the rear of the trailer would tend to move over into the left lane when making the curves. Roundabouts work fine when they are larger in size, like a hundred yards or bigger.
