Play concerns
HERE we go again with another adult play at Southeast Missouri State University. Hasn't the university learned anything from the last controversy? If no one went to see "Angels in America" maybe the University would stop this downward trend in our society of immoral behavior and loss of Christian values in entertainment.
Listen to patients
IT was with much sadness that I read the article about the passing of Dr. Jean Chapman. He was my physician for several years, and he was an outstanding doctor. The most important thing that made him that way was that he took the time to listen to his patients. I have missed Dr. Chapman for a long time and am sorry to see him leave this earth.
Energy efficiency
INSTEAD of nuclear power or coal, it would be far wiser to invest in solar panels in the desert. The internal combustion engine is inefficient and leads to pollution and global warming. Electricity in a vehicle is almost 100 percent efficient. It would be far wiser to have one type of energy — solar, if possible.
Too young for movie
MY boyfriend and I recently visited a local movie theater and were disappointed with what we saw. We went to an R-rated movie and noticed there were several adolescents there. These youths did not look old enough to be in an R-rated movie, nor were they accompanied by an adult. The theater was obviously reluctant to ask for identification or did not care.
County roads
WHAT purpose does the Cape Girardeau County Road and Bridge Advisory Board serve? Voters elected a civil engineer to the county commission. Commissioner Paul Koeper is well-qualified for the position. He listens to citizens who say they don't want chip-and-seal, but the advisory board keeps pushing for it. Why? The advisory board has wasted its time meddling in the budget process. Let Commissioner Koeper do what he was elected for. I don't think the county will be disappointed.
