Once again, our city government has proved they are nothing more than politicians. All they can think of is their personal agendas. Money from the casino can and should be used to lower sewer and water bills. Remember this when you run for re-election and the next time you want a tax increase...
Lower water bills
Once again, our city government has proved they are nothing more than politicians. All they can think of is their personal agendas. Money from the casino can and should be used to lower sewer and water bills. Remember this when you run for re-election and the next time you want a tax increase.
Iraq War
The architects of the war in Iraq will go down in history as having done more damage to our country's credibility and reputation than 1950s red baiting U.S. Sen. Joe McCarthy.
Medical schools
If there's going to be a shortage of doctors, why not free up the medical schools for people to go for care?
Help homeless
I have a good idea. Why doesn't John Kerry give the homeless people here $60 billion. If we can help people in other countries, why can't we help people here?
Sour grapes
I seem to remember people saying countries did not respect us when Bush Jr. was in office. I also think you're not a county divided unless you want to be. People who didn't vote for Obama call sour grapes too often.
Playtime
My son started preschool at age 4 and it made him the college student he is today. I don't know what it's like today, but he went to a public school and he had time for playing. You can always find playtime for your children.
Broadway
When driving down Broadway, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful it was. I could see the courthouse and thought it was lovely and thought how proud it made me of the city. I don't like the bricks, though. Other than that, I would prefer nice asphalt and would like nice paved roads. When they do something about the old Esquire, it will be a very nicely done street and I can't wait to show it off to out of town guests.
County park
It's a matter of public record that county taxpayers have contributed to the county park, which shows a balance of $171,874.30, balanced on 12/31/2012. So why do they act like they're broke and they need to charge us taxpayers to use the county parks. I would like them to be held accountable and answer this question.

Poor but rich
People think if they acquire goods they'll be happy. You can be poor and still be happy.
Obama's sequester
Over a year ago, the White House suggested Congress pass the sequester bill. It was passed by both parties and both houses. The president signed it saying it was going to happen. Now over a year later, he is blaming the Republicans. He's the one who proposed it. It's time we quit spending more than we take in. We should even spend less than what we take in and start paying on the national debt.
Abortion, guns
Someone remarked there is no connection between a woman who chooses to have an abortion vs. those who use a gun. I beg to differ. They both kill.
Cousin Carl
I would like to give Cousin Carl a good old pat on the back. I am proud of what he said on the radio the other day about the boy who was wanting to bring his boyfriend to the prom and ended up being able to do so. Why are we letting just a few people end up getting their way when the majority of the people lose out. Let's get Bibles back in schools and take America back to the way it used to be.
Foreign aid
I have a question. Why do the people have to take pay cuts? Why do we have people out of work who can't afford health care, and why are we sending $60 million overseas to a foreign country when we need help? Why?
Addictions
Someone wants to blame the drug pusher for all the addictions. Everyone's to blame and it's a scourge on society. When a young person starts smoking marijuana or popping pills, the parents should stop them where they are.
City fireworks
I was calling about the veteran's firework decision. IF they can't do it, why can't the casino money be used to buy the fireworks for the veterans. I'm sure the city can manage to do that.
Celebrate Recovery
This is in regard to the painkillers submission in the paper recently asking for a place to help with addiction. Celebrate Recovery is at Lynwood Baptist Church and can help with that. It meets 6 p.m. every Tuesday night.
