IF YOU are offended by the 'lazy Missourians' comment and you honestly work hard at your job, you have no right. If you are offended because you are a lazy Missourian, you deserve it. There are plenty of you out there, and it's not just in Missouri. It's an American thing. Every day I experience it from lazy fast-food workers to IRS agents and politicians. Get over it, because it is true.
DO WE need county zoning and code enforcement? Absolutely. Take a look at some of the developments in the county.
HOUSE SPEAKER Rod Jetton is in a fine position to know what hard work, taking risks and using the system will get you financially. He doesn't wait for someone to take care of him. He's out there hustling and working to earn his own way. Who better to point out that it can be done? Many of us are too lazy to get it done.
I DON'T like the idea of punishing all county residents by imposing needless zoning on them because a few irresponsible developers don't follow basic guidelines in construction. Let's punish the developers, not the hardworking, honest, taxpaying county residents.
I WANT to thank Chris B. from Chaffee. We had a lot of limbs and a tree down from the ice storms. We were unable to take care of them due to financial reasons. Chris offered to help, and we greatly appreciate it.
I WOULD like to thank the folks who went out of their way to help me to the building and back to my car at the Jackson Medical Center on Saturday. The parking lot was covered in ice. Getting to the building from my car was slow going. A nice woman came out from the warmth to help me get to the door. After my appointment was over, an older gentleman walked me to my car while his friend scraped all the ice from under my wheels. I would have never made it home if not for these great individuals. I am sorry I did not get your names, but you are truly appreciated.
IN AN act of apparent desperation never seen by Gary Rust, he resorted to the most extreme propaganda tactics possible in a recent column designed to convince Missourians that things have been rosy in our state under Republican rule. I never thought I would see the day when Mr. Rust would be so worried about a Democrat takeover in our state and nation he would resort to the unseemliest tactic of using as evidence (believe it or not) statistics.
I WAS saddened by the death of William F. Buckley Jr. He is considered by many to be the father of modern conservatism and was no doubt mortified as to what has been done in its name.
