FROM noted pessimistic historian Niall Ferguson through cynical Speak Out callers, there has been a long-running theme that the international economy is going to collapse. It will not. As is pointed out Foreign Policy magazine, the dollar's value didn't crash, international violence has not become more prevalent, high tariffs and economic protectionism did not return, the economic downturn in rich countries didn't drag down emerging nations and, according to many modes of measurement, the economy has begun growing again.

THANK you, Dr. Mike Cowan and Pat Kuper, for allowing The Tiger newspaper staff to publish a story on pregnant teenagers at Central High School. Central must be doing something great, because the pregnancy rates are decreasing. I hope no one receives any flak for this fantastic newspaper. Great job, guys. Keep it up.
