I'M CALLING about the new driveway that they're putting in at Alma Schrader School in Cape. For the life of me, I cannot understand why the school board would approve a drive between the building and the playground where the children play after and before school. They already have half of a driveway at the south side of building that would have exited onto the street where the children do not have a playground. Once again, Cape's school district is spending money, holding up school starting and putting a drive on the north side of Alma Schrader School where the children play. Just another chance for more accidents. I do not understand. They did need a different way for the buses and the parents to pick up their children, but I'm not sure they had their brain on right when they decided to put it on the north side of the school versus the south side. It would have been safer for the children, which is the No. 1 priority, and it most likely would have been less expensive because they already have a road on the south side of the school.
THIS PROPAGANDA that is being spoon fed to the American people is so obvious as to border on the ridiculous. They underestimate our basic sense of logic and valid reasoning. All these cover stories to confuse us only serve to enlighten us to their connived purposes. You can't fool all the people all of the time.
WE HAD a garage sale this past weekend. We want to thank the man who brought back the $20 given to him wrong in change. You always hear about the dishonest people but never the honest ones. Thank you very much, and may God richly bless you in your honesty.
THIS PRESIDENT is a pathological liar, a psychological sex addict and a confessed adulterer. Also, he is an abuser of power of the office of the presidency by his repeated efforts to cover up and to get all his co-workers and friends and wives to back up his lies while he evaded the truth for seven months. What else is he covering up? This just may be the tip of the iceberg. I was a Democrat, but I don't condone hypocrisy. He should resign.
WHAT MORE does this man have to do to be unfit for the presidency? Murder someone? If he has any trace of conscience at all, he will resign with an apology to the American people for betraying their trust in him and his betrayal of his oath at his inauguration. He has misled and violated our trust.
WHAT AN excellently idea. Name the new elementary school Melvin Gateley Elementary would be a small way to thank this man for everything he's done for Cape Girardeau.
I AGREE that the new elementary school should be named for Melvin Gateley. I can't think of anyone in recent town history who's done more for education and for the town than Melvin has. But while we're at it, I think the school district should also consider a name for the new high school. It's time that the school be called something other than Central. That has no real importance to our area. It seems that we should go ahead and name the new high school building Cape Girardeau High School.
THE LATEST on Vice President Al Gore and his Hawaiian speech: He gave a real hot pro-union speech, a real fiery hell-and-brimstone oration, real radical, like he was on some steroid. He finished with this: "Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell and organize." Some speech.
I WOULD like to make a comment about people complaining about the news media reporting this Monica Lewinsky sex scandal with Bill Clinton. The funny thing is they claim they're disgusted by what the news media are showing and saying, yet it's Bill Clinton's own administration and Cabinet that wanted to teach kindergarten about how to use safe sex with a condom.
COULD SOMEONE solve a disagreement my wife and I have? Have they abandoned the Scott City School? We just passed by there and in all the weeds and tall grass, we saw something move. My wife thought was it was a kid, I thought it was a river rat. Maybe the city should mow the grass and charge the school. At least that way it would be mowed.
