WHY DO liberals always ask, "What about the children?" Joe Lieberman asked this after learning the certified election results in Florida. Lieberman asked how can we teach children that every vote counts when elections are run this way. I have a question for Lieberman: What kind of example are you setting for our children? The only thing Gore and Lieberman have taught our children is to cheat, steal, lie and be poor losers.
TO THE person who talked about the Florida kangaroo court and the fact that if Gore became president he would not be his president: I hate to disagree, but just as surely as the fact that George W. Bush would be my president if he is declared the final winner, so would Gore be your president. Your only way out is to leave the country.
I TOO -- a loyal Gore-on, as I have been called -- am sick of the counting and recounting. However, this is such a close race in Florida that I don't believe it should be called until every vote has been counted and recounted. Truly, what would be the harm in a manual recount of the entire state? Then we would know for sure, and neither side would have anything to complain about. Then, and only then, would the public be satisfied that things were done right.
I HAVE two comments about the cameras at the stoplights in Cape. One is there is so much talk about ticketing the driver. I see no problem where the owner would be able to identify who was driving the car at the time. So that shouldn't be a problem with ticketing the driver. In the paper, Jay Purcell talks about the police officers being a better deterrent than a light or an electronic camera. Evidently he hasn't been driving in the city or he would see policemen sitting in their cars at an intersection when a red light is run and they do nothing.
BUSH MAY win this election after all. If he does it will be because of two very unusual groups of people. First we have the Cuban Republicans marching on the county courthouse in Miami. These are unusual Republicans because they are willing to get out in the streets and protest and require all the votes be counted including their own votes against Democrats. The second group is the election judges in Dade County. They have decided that they can't falsify votes while the Cubans are marching outside and are not going to count votes that they can't count correctly. So we have Republicans marching in the streets, and we have three honest Democrats who don't want to lie in front of the Cubans. What unusual groups.
WHILE DISCUSSING the election an acquaintance of mine was spouting off his devotion to his party as a lifelong Democrat. The lifelong Democrats are just that. No matter what has changed in their party, they have voted the straight Democratic ticket all their life. The old Democratic Party, which I was a member of, never supported the homosexual agenda, abortion or socialist government. They would have been outraged at the lies and perverted actions of Mr. Clinton. Decent people have left the party. The next time you stick out your chest and brag about your loyalty to a political party, remember how foolish you look to people who try to vote for character, decency and Christian values no matter what the party.
BUSH DOES indeed trust the people. He just doesn't trust Gore's vote-stealing people, and he shouldn't.
