On another planet?
TWO COMMENTS for Joe Sullivan. First, if he keeps a motionless clock in his office so that he can look at it from time to time and know that somewhere in the world it is accurate, I don't know what planet he's on. I'm not familiar with time zones that are a minute off from each other. For example, when it's 13 minutes past the hour here, it's not 20 minutes till another hour somewhere else. And if that's the case, Mr. Sullivan's clock isn't always right somewhere else in the world. It's wrong most of the time. Perhaps, though, Sullivan is referring to life on parallel universes or the impact of time bends. In which case, I humbly retract my hypertechnical criticism. Either way, my second comment is that I never fail to enjoy Sullivan's columns. Keep us laughing, Joe.
They hired thugs
IT WON'T fly, but it was a pretty nice try. Bush propagandist David Limbaugh recently wrote a column implying Gore's own people abandoned him when they quit counting votes in Miami. David, they are still with Al all the way. The reason they quit counting was that they were intimidated by a paid group of thugs hired by the party you support.
Illegal overseas ballots
WHY DON'T the callers to Speak Out criticizing Al Gore about the overseas ballots educate themselves about why these ballots are not legal? There is more than meets the eye about George W. Bush's campaign to take his brother's state, including those illegal overseas ballots. I am sure a lot of people besides me are suspicious of the mischief as Bush's henchman Baker likes to imply.
Seasonal cycles
TEN YEARS ago on Nov. 26, 1990, temperatures were near 70 degrees, according to Out of the Past in the Southeast Missourian. So these warm temperatures we are having this fall are not just this year's odd phenomena. It is just season cycles that have occurred all through the centuries.
More of that ilk
RECENTLY IN Speak Out there were four nasty opinions from Republicans, all rhetoric, no truth in any of them. And that was it. Except for the first comment in Speak Out that day, which was a treasure. I wish there were more Speak Out contributors of that ilk.
Sounds serious
GORE IS nothing more than a chad molester.
Bring us together
NOW THAT the election is over and Bush has been declared the winner and certified in Florida, he is our new president. We need to all get behind him. We need to all support him. Let's bring the country together -- the Democrats too. They are still Americans.
Count all the votes
MOST AMERICANS voted for Vice President Al Gore, and most Floridians did also. It is a shame that they didn't let them finish counting the votes. The machine didn't pick up some in the first place. Maybe we can still get that time.
Like the James gang
I WANT to thank the Republican Party for putting Bush and Cheney in. It is just like Jesse and Frank James except they are going to give to the rich instead of the poor. Thank you very much from a Democrat.
Time for transition
THANK GOODNESS George Bush won. It is time now to transition into a new government, a government of integrity, a government that can take care of all the people of the United States and have morals at the same time.
