You area school kids are so lucky this year so far, not to be plagued with all that messy ice, snow and freezing rain. If it stays that way, you won't be deprived of a single day of unanticipated or unplanned school closure.

** Alternate route
I'm told Jackson is thinking of putting a roundabout uptown, which would mean doing away with a building. Why waste money that way when all you need to do is put up one-way signs. If all traffic moves to the right around the square then you have a round-a-bout. Other towns do it this way and it works great.
** Traffic help
Independence Street from Caruthers on up to Kingshighway has always been an accident waiting to happen. But now that we have the license bureau on Independence and the new Wal-Mart on Independence, it's really an accident waiting to happen. They need to put up another stoplight or something. I saw a four-car pileup today, and I don't know how many other wrecks are going to happen before they put up another stoplight. But they need to do something.
