Purposeless waste

THANK YOU, Southeast Missourian, for your fair editorial about House Speaker Rod Jetton, state Sen. Jason Crowell and the River Campus. This disagreement is a purposeless waste. Jetton and Crowell still represent us in Jefferson City, don't they?

Off the reservation

BEWARE OF your friends, House Speaker Rod Jetton. When the conservative Southeast Missourian starts writing stories that reveal you to be a power-hungry prima donna, you must have really gone off the reservation.

Blame Mother Nature

THE GLOBAL-warming crowd will tell any lie it can to promote its flawed theory. While it is true that Earth is warming, most legitimate scientists agree that's part of Earth's natural cycle. Scientific evidence shows this has happened before and will happen again. These scientists get no publicity, while the shrieking doomsayers are given all the headlines. One volcanic eruption puts more greenhouse gases and pollutants into the atmosphere than the entire human race has since the beginning of the industrial revolution. If you want to blame someone for global warming, try Mother Nature.

Deceptive administration

THE ONGOING strategy of the White House to stonewall and subvert congressional investigations of its probably illegal program of spying on Americans underscores the morally bankrupt nature of this administration. From the outset the administration could have asked for the FISA law to be amended, but it chose not to do this. The law allows surveillance for several days before court approval is required. Just like every other aspect of this Bush invasion, we find the White House again lying and deceiving Americans. How many times can Americans be kicked by this president before they stop bending over?

Moving performance

THANK YOU to Brooke Clubbs and the cast of "The Vagina Monologues" for giving such an important, entertaining performance Thursday night. The readings were hilarious and moving and had such a pertinent message. I hope that V-Day will continue to be celebrated in Southeast Missouri and that Southeast Missouri State University will continue to be supportive of the movement to stop violence against women.

Thanks, SEMO

IT'S REFRESHING to see our legislature punish an educational institution that keeps its fees at some of the lowest levels in the state while it rewards the institution with the highest tuition and fees of any public university in the state. Mizzou, you can thank the 6,000 Southeast students who have MOHELA loans for your new $90 million science facility.
