SO now some people are thinking that the voting district changes are a Republican plot to affect voter turnout. At first I just laughed at this paranoid comment, but upon consideration I came to the conclusion that it might be true. After all, they've got to do something to offset all the dead Democrats who vote every election...

SO now some people are thinking that the voting district changes are a Republican plot to affect voter turnout. At first I just laughed at this paranoid comment, but upon consideration I came to the conclusion that it might be true. After all, they've got to do something to offset all the dead Democrats who vote every election.

Joe Paterno

WHY do people continue to admire Joe Paterno, even in death? He knew about and allowed the molestation of children. The man deserves no respect. If alive, he would belong in jail.

FOR those thanking Obama for the current recovery, you should know if it wasn't for his failed economic policies we would have been out of this recession 18 months ago. The only thing we should thank him for is 18 additional months of suffering.

Diet soda, smoking

ON diet soda and smoking: The study stated that those who drank diet soda had a 61 percent greater risk of stroke after compensating for other factors. It does not state that drinking diet soda has a higher risk of causing a stroke than smoking alone.

Obama, pipeline

PRESIDENT Obama delayed the oil pipeline because the Republican governor of Nebraska requested an environmental impact statement on the acquirer that runs in the ground underneath that state. All of the states through which the pipeline would have run are solid red states and so the delay will do no political harm to the president. The pipeline will be built somewhere next year during the second Obama administration.
