I would like to compliment and thank the Cape Girardeau County Highway Department for the excellent job they do year round, especially during the recent snow storm. Our county road was cleared hours before the state highways.
Why doesn't any politician ever mention the fact that interest rates are so low that seniors are having to dip in savings every month to pay their utilities? Interest rate went up 0.25, and my bank offered me 0.04 less than last January to renew my IRA this January. So who benefited from the interest rate increase? Sure wasn't the people trying to live on their Social Security and a little savings.
Law-enforcement officers are ordinary men and women who are asked to do extraordinary things and make split decisions.
Is this your intent? An elitist, effete editorial cartoon published in the Southeast Missourian, poking fun at Sarah Palin's sentence structure serves to fuel further and expand the anger and resentment to which the likes of Palin, Trump and others are exploiting in a way which is almost certain to destroy the significant influence of real conservatives in the Republican Party.
Once again it looks like the owners of our gas stations in Cape Girardeau are scalping us with their pricing. I was over in Illinois and noticed unleaded was $1.62 a gallon. That's cheaper than what I gassed up for in Cape before I left. Come on. Illinois has a much higher fuel tax than Missouri and is always priced higher -- way higher. Gas in Perryville is $1.42. I guess the owners thought is let's scalp 'em while we can. Bernie Sanders is right: Rich people just get richer off the average Americans.

Photo identification is the safest way to remove fraud from elections, credit card misuse and a host of other things that we need to verify an identity.
It doesn't qualify as an act of domestic terrorism but it will take a tremendous psychological toll on those with any sense of history and tradition when they reduce to ashes and rubble the old Cape Girardeau Central High School gym.
In order to sustain their businesses almost one half of U.S. gun shops depend on demand from Mexico.
Used to people got all their information from books. Now people get all their information from unreliable sources like the Internet.
