Mark my words, you on the right. Debt and deficit fetishism will lead to a double dip recession accompanied by the decline and fall of the U.S.
I hope some people don't get special privileges that waive the $50 inspection fee. Let me give you an example. There is a house in town that is run by another company that collects the rent and does maintenance, but it still has the old wiring. That house keeps getting rented out and electrical inspectors aren't called. I wonder why that is?
You know, back in the '50s they closed all the mental institutions; it was not considered humane. They gave these patients pills and more pills and built special homes for them to live out freely. They're still sick. We need to build mental health facilities that will care for them so they don't hurt themselves or anyone else. It's a two-way street.
Concerning the dairy farmers in lurch after the farm bill expires: It isn't just Missouri that is having this problem; it's in Vermont and California. People who have been in the business for years are now selling off their cattle, and that speaks badly of these poor overworked cows. Now they're just going to be slaughtered. Farmers all over are having trouble. And it isn't just farmers; we are all in trouble.
I'm all for exercising and eating the right things. I have a question, every year you see Alma Schrader in their yearly walk. What about the rest of the year? Do the principal and counselors walk to school every day?
Some Speak Out savant expressed concern about the Marines in Lebanon and blamed the losses on President Obama. Though truth seems to matter little these days, there were nearly 240 Marines lost in Lebanon due to a terrorist attack during the Reagan administration.
Will the landlord ordinance apply to business buildings also? It should.
I just read the birth announcements. There were seven and it looked like none of them were married. What's happening to the people of this area? God help us. Thank you.
I just wonder if many people miss the critiques of the movies we used to have. We used to have a little information about each movie and I really miss it and wonder if anyone else does, too. I wonder if there's anyway we can get that back into the paper.
I went to the VFW lake and have never seen the property look so good. Everything looks in tip top shape and looked the best it has in years. Thanks to the people responsible for all the work. And the bathrooms were the cleanest and freshest ever. Wow. Great job!
After the presidential debates, I heard President Obama say in a speech the next day that Romney lied to the people in his debate. But what about Obama? Why did it take him almost two weeks to tell the American public that the death of the ambassador and Navy Seals was a terrorist attack and blame it on a film? Why has he told the American people he has helped the economy when clearly he has not? Why are Christians not taking a stand against abortion and same-sex marriage which are clearly against the Bible, which Obama stands for? Wake up, America. Our future is at stake.
How about a modified Cape Girardeau version of a Drifter's classic. "They say the neon lights aren't bright, on Broadway."
Looked at in historical context, it's very impressive. The ongoing expansion of SEMO's River Campus is on a pace to rival the growth of the ancient Roman, Alexandrian, Napoleonic, Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, Habsburg and Russian empires combined.
It should be clear to people that if you elect Democrats to run your state or the whole country, the result will be bankruptcy. Just look at Illinois and California. These states have been run by Democrats for years, and they are going bankrupt.
Social Security was a good idea when it was conceived, but they should have put the money into people's personal retirement accounts. Anytime you send money to government bureaucrats they spend it, and that's a big part of the reason the program is broke. All Social Security payments go into the general revenue fund and get spent. The younger generation will not have any. Social Security was not intended to be the sole source of retirement income. It was supposed to be just part of it. Sad to say many people are irresponsible and don't save for retirement.
