Long-range issue

IT AMAZES me that someone would look at weather patterns over the last decade, pull out a few random temperature records and make some sort of an assumption that global warming is coming to an end. This is a prime example of the struggle scientists face today. How can we convince people like this that the real effects won't be seen today or tomorrow? These effects won't probably be apparent to you and me in our lifetimes. It's our grandchildren who will suffer because of our ignorance and failure to act. Let's please try to see past the ends of our noses.

Iran's nuclear plan

IRAN'S TRYING to develop nuclear energy. Why do they need to develop nuclear energy when they have, supposedly, one of the biggest reserves of oil in that part of the country and probably in the world? There must be another strategy that's promoting nuclear energy rather than an energy in itself.

Tried to get help

HOW SADDENED we all are about the murder of the young family in Jackson. According to family and friends I've talked to, this woman spent the entire day of the shooting trying to get help. She tried everything she could. Of course, she thought her husband would never do something like this.

Lights in the park

WHAT'S GOING on with the Cape County Park? It's not as pretty as it has always been. There are a lot of empty spaces. It's a big disappointment this year. Unless the organizers of the Christmas displays get on the ball, it's going to be a bummer to go by there and not see the beautiful lights.

Winter heat

ACCORDING TO the Energy Information Administration, on average Americans will spend $977 to heat their homes this year. They must live in California if they only spend $977 to heat a home for a year.

Easy-to-get orders

JUDGES HAND out ex parte orders like candy. Maybe they should look into each situation a little bit more. If they would, maybe there might be a few kids alive today and this woman in Jackson wouldn't have had to go through this horrible ordeal.

Paying the price

THOSE WHO took out no-interest loans or no-down-payment loans for houses that were bigger than they needed should pay for their mistakes. No one has ever bailed out all the hard-working citizens who came before us and lived according to their means. Where are the consequences of our own decisions? And how can the federal government help us if it's in deeper than most citizens? This is a great example to show our youths.
