THE person who commented about the sloppy attire of some bank employees around town may want to check out Commerce Bank. Their employees dress professionally and are courteous to customers.
MY purse was stolen. Apparently, it is one of seven that have been stolen in the Cape Girardeau area in the last three days. While sharing my story, someone said, "Well, times are really hard." Really? Is that what our society is coming to? Excusing criminal behavior because of a recession? I understand that many people have lost jobs and benefits and that money is tight, especially for Christmas. But who gets to determine which person has enough to steal from? My husband and I both work full-time and have part-time jobs, and I am going to school. Why is it right to steal from me? I was raised in the deep South, where folks believe in stiff punishment for crime. I was taught to keep my hands off things that don't belong to me. Purse thieves, I hope you are caught and punished. More importantly, I hope someone teaches your children to keep their hands off things that don't belong to them. And I hope I can teach my children not to be afraid of the people who live in our community.
