VICE PRESIDENT Cheney's health brings to question just how effectively and thoroughly he can do his job. With the state of affairs today, we need someone who can give 100 percent.
YES, CAPE Girardeau, there really is a Santa Claus. Thank you, Mr. Dial, for finally fixing the traffic lights at Broadway and Caruthers. Now I have another problem. What am I going to do with all the money that I'm going to save on gas?
ANGEL FOOD Ministries and Christ Church of the Heartland: God bless you all. You're doing God's will. You're feeding the hungry. We truly love you and appreciate you. May God richly bless you and yours.
LAST YEAR when I had concerns about math, I was told by the teacher no one else had complained. This year I find out several parents complained to the same teacher about the same time last year and were told the same thing. Now eighth-graders at Central Junior High School are retaking tests because about all the students are doing poorly.
I'M GETTING so tired of people thinking people on disability are skating through life. I worked hard for 20 years before I became disabled. I bring in a whole $12,000 a year. They're sending billions and billions and billions to Iraq, yet people who've given their lives for this country get nothing. It doesn't make sense. The numbers are wrong.
THE CLIMATIC Research Unit at Britain's University of East Anglia has reported that 2007 will be on record as about as warm as 2006. Both years did not beat the reported warming record of 1998. It appears that the warming trend is tailing off and that it's getting cooler.
I WAS disappointed to discover on a recent trip to visit Santa with my two small children that parents are discouraged from taking pictures with their own personal cameras. Instead, parents are encouraged to buy expensive pictures taken by a photographer. Not only did I not feel the need to spend money elsewhere in the mall, I also felt that this took away from the spirit of Christmas. I know that there are many parents in our community who want a picture of their child with Santa, but they can't afford the expensive ones offered. My family will be looking for a different Santa to visit that isn't so money hungry.
REGARDING MISSOURI'S student loan agency supplying money to Gov. Matt Blunt's college construction plan: Blunt praised the dismissal of the lawsuit against his plan as "a victory for students, whom he said will benefit from state-of-the-art buildings funded under his plan." What an asinine statement about what we should consider a criminal use of the funds meant to help students pay for their education.
