Better route
I HAVE noticed that traffic on Bloomfield Road going west is backing up at the Silver Springs Road and Mount Auburn Road intersections. I don't understand why folks don't use Highway 74 to go west toward the mall and Siemers Drive. Highway 74 is four lanes and has a 45-mph speed limit. This would save everyone time and money. I need some company out there on Highway 74. Come and join me.
IN USING domestic wiretaps to spy on private citizens, not only has President Bush committed a clearly impeachable offense, but he has also vowed to continue doing it. And since Vice President Cheney has been accused of war crimes by Colin Powell's chief of staff for his promotion of the use of torture on prisoners, clearly we need to get rid of both of them. This country does not need a dictator pretending to promote democracy around the world but suppressing it at home.
THE TIME has come not to renew the Patriot Act. The Constitution didn't mean for us to sacrifice our individual liberties. We must always want to be free and brave without Big Brother looking down our backside.
ALL OF America needs to think about this from President Truman: Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures until it becomes a source of terror to all of its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.
PRESIDENT BUSH is being accused of spying on Americans. Those people were foreigners, and the calls were coming into the United States from foreign countries. This is more of how the news media try to twist the news.
SO THE contractors think a sidewalk requirement would end up costing the homeowner. What happens now? It doesn't cost the homeowner who gets the benefit of it. Instead, it costs those of us who never even walk on some of the sidewalks. Why shouldn't it cost the homeowner who gets to enjoy the sidewalk? Please, council, step up to the plate, be strong and do what's right.
IT IS shameful that the Mexican president hasn't done more to help his people, because they continue to sneak over our borders. I think its a wonderful thing putting up this fence. I am for amnesty for the Mexican population that is already here, but I think it's time to secure our borders.
