Nobody's fool

I am one of the liberals who hopes to profit greatly from the hoax of climate change. I believe that only my opinion matters, and I work hard to ensure that all dissenting opinion is marginalized. Also, I have carefully considered the government health care systems in all the other industrialized nations and found government-run systems like the VA are the best. I don't care how we're supposed to pay for another government entitlement, but I must follow my liberal messiah. I find it unsocialistic that anyone would go into the health care field and spend years of intense study and hours away from their families treating the sick while hoping to earn a living. You can't fool me with the facts, and only the facts that I agree on matter.

Can festival

THANK you once again for the Cans Film Festival at Cape West 14 Cine. It is a great way for families to see a movie and teach their children to give to charities. It is also well-organized for leaving your cans and getting your tickets. Thanks also to the UPS men in brown who help.

Dog out window

I saw someone throw a dog out a car window on Highway 74 and drive away doing 70 mph. I reported it to the police department so they could give the animal a decent burial. I hope someone will come forward and will say who did this.

Crushing regulation

TO understand why businesses are having so many economic problems, consider the growth in federal regulations. According to a 2007 Wall Street Journal article, it took 169 years from the founding of this nation for the federal code of laws to reach 11,472 pages and only four decades more for that number to quadruple. In 1960, the code of federal regulations numbered 2,000 pages. Today that number has grown more than 700 percent. God help us if we don't get regulation out of the federal government and bring it back to communities making these decisions.

Goodbye, soaps

CONCERNING soap operas: We didn't lose "The Guiding Light." It lost its life. Now "As the World Turns" is following in its footsteps. I'm sick of soap operas, because they don't write about things happening in the real world. They've gone off the deep end. I'll be happy to see them all go.

Destructive trend

WE have a lot of cold air in the atmosphere now from the melting of the ice at the poles. My guess is that we'll come to an equilibrium within the next few years. We're going to be putting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, so it's going to warm up again. It looks like we're going to destroy the whole planet.

Cheating mate

ONCE a cheater, always a cheater. Only in rare instances will one change. Celebrity or not, if my man cheated on me, I wouldn't leave. The kids and I would stay in the house and take all his money and kick him to the curb.

Cookie jar

PRESIDENT Obama is like a kid in the candy store with his hand in our money. Now he's giving $3 billion to Indian tribes. We'd all like free college educations for our children. No one ever gave us that. It doesn't seem fair that some people are "entitled" to more of an opportunity for education than others.

Heights, depths

THE ironic juxtaposition of the sordid allegations against Rod Jetton next to a story about the return of the Blue Angels jets to the Cape air show was not lost on the discerning reader. We can soar to the heights and sink to the depths.

Health progress

MEDICARE for all would have been better, but Medicare for a more expanded portion of the population is progress.

Presidential hopes

I beg my Democrat friends not to get down in the dumps. You must remain optimistic and hopeful. There is a good chance that the rate of presidential approval could always go back up and that President Obama might actually keep one or two of his campaign promises.

Closed transparency

I find it funny that President Obama held a closed-door meeting touting his plan for government transparency. This president's hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me.

Destructive path

I voted for President Obama, but he's clearly destroying our country with many of the policies he's pursuing and his out-of-control spending. I'm a Democrat and proud of it, but I can't stick my head in the sand while Obama further dismantles our country after accusing Republicans of doing the same thing for the last several years. Obama and George Bush spend the same, manage wars the same and take away citizens' rights the same. The only thing different: Obama is a better speaker, while Bush was a better leader.
