Unused food

How do you plead? $124 billion of edible food is wasted by Americans each year.

Leaves collection

Yes. I agree with your story that leaf collection is going much more smoothly in Cape this year. In fact, it's going so smoothly that our once-high pile of leaves has collapsed, smoothed out and is, as a result of being run over so many times, melding smoothly into our street, making the concrete and other material into a kind of mauve color worthy of being on the Christmas or other tour.

Thank you, police

Just want to say thank you to each and every police officer for putting their lives on the line everyday to keep our community safe. Thank You and God Bless.

Trophy hunters

Both my father and brother were avid hunters, more so than I. I am confident that neither of them would have killed such a unique, beautiful and magnificent specimen. I may have grown up in a hunting family, but trophy hunters are not my favorite people.

Roll Tide!

Smoke at restaurant

I'm from Cape Girardeau but received a promotion and moved away two years ago. Last week I and two regional bosses were traveling in the area, and I told the two men about how wonderful Cape is, so we stopped there for a few hours. They were so impressed with the community as we drove by SEMO, Saint Francis Medical Center and other places. Then we stopped in a nice restaurant for lunch. The service was poor at best, the entire place reeked of cigarette smoke, etc. One of the men is a smoker, but even he said restaurants should not allow smoking.

Road issues

Can we please address the issue that Bloomfield Road is in dire need of streetlights? Last week when there was heavy rain and fog, and visibility is limited on this road on a clear day. There is always lots of traffic, and at night it is pitch black. There is not a clear dividing line and the road is narrow. The city limits was moved to include the Dalhousie Club House and subdivision as well as the Windwood subdivision. If we are going to pay city taxes, how about maintaining the road and improving visibility with lighting. The improved part close to Siemers drive is nice, but as soon as you pass county road 206 the rest of Bloomfield is nothing but patches of blacktop. Let's finish this project and make this road safer for everyone.
