THE person who owns the building on the corner of Sprigg Street and Broadway wants to fix it with taxpayer money to a total of $400,000. I don't want my tax dollars going to fix someone else's old building. If he wants to fix it up, let him furnish the money.
THE tax rates never need to be raised at any level of government. Suppose that our government needs 10 percent of our income in order to run the government. As more people move into the area and get more jobs, it automatically gets more money. All they ever need is 10 percent of our money.
Southeast Missouri State University tries to paint a bright picture of the new health insurance plans. What they neglected to say is that they are currently contributing $1,500 to the employees' $1,500 deductible. This will now be $750 and on top of other restrictions. And no pay raises in over two years. Come on SEMO, give us a break.
