Bigger distraction
I'VE BEEN out at restaurants on the night of the Jackson prom, and I've seen some of those kids come in all dressed up for the prom. I don't think the boy in the kilt is as big a distraction as some of those girls in their dresses. If the high school principal wants to worry about a distraction, perhaps he needs to make a dress code for the girls as well.
I THINK the boy wanting to wear his kilt to a school dance is ridiculous. If someone wears a kilt, then the next thing there will be a boy wanting to wear a skirt because he's gay. This opens the door for real weirdos. The administration, though, obviously isn't enforcing the dress code. I saw a young woman get out of a car at Jackson High School who had to pull down her shorts because they were so short. A young man in a kilt would be a lot more modest than those young women with bare midriffs. Enforce the dress code or let the boy wear a kilt to school.
I VOTED for John F. Kennedy because he was a Democrat who didn't believe in abortion. I remember something he said: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Can you imagine a liberal today saying that? The liberal view has changed greatly since his presidency, and that's why many Democrats left the party.
THE DEMOCRATIC propaganda machine is in high gear discrediting our country's war on terrorists and trying to demoralize our brave, volunteer soldiers. It is far better we took the war to the terrorists' backyards than have them over here to fight in our backyard. After that terrorist attack on America, the United States was indeed blessed to have a president who strongly responded. These terrorists are operating worldwide and will be fought worldwide by all freedom-loving people. Terrorists will be eliminated from causing terror throughout this planet Earth.
I THINK Cape Girardeau has a problem dealing with African-Americans socially and economically. We can talk about how far behind black students are and how far ahead white students are. But let's talk about the economic and social issues in Cape Girardeau. There are African-American college graduates here who can't find a decent job. This has been going for years where people are falling through the gap economically. The social issue is racial discrimination. If blacks get jobs and and we stop discrimination, then maybe our kids won't be so far behind.
I THINK we should all be glad that our opinions are able to be expressed at all in Speak Out. In some countries, people like us would be in pieces.
CLINT LACY is absolutely right. The world would be so much better off if the United States would mind its own business. We never should have stopped Hitler's extermination of the Jews, the Soviet Union's oppression of its people or Saddam Hussein's chemical weapon attacks on the Kurds. If we bury our heads in the sand, these problems will all magically go away.
REPUBLICANS ARE so efficient. It took them only 10 years in power to become as corrupt as the Democrats were after 40 years in control.
POLLS AND statistics aren't everything, but there is hardly a media conspiracy involved in President Bush's low ratings across the board. The truth is that the right wing is not as mainstream as it thought it was, and cutting programs like food stamps while asking for subsidies for people to purchase digital televisions is not in line with American citizens' ideology. I have a renewed faith in America with the high disapproval of Bush and fundamentalist, extremist right-wing leadership.
