It's just my opinion but it bugs me when two state legislators appear in a photo with those chosen as the Cape Chamber of Commerce's teachers of the year when I don't consider either of them to be "all-in" supporters of public education. Traveling through Arnold and Festus on Sunday, we saw gas at $1.79.9 per gallon. When we pulled into Cape, it was $2.19.9. That's $.40 a gallon difference. I would bet it all comes from the same refinery...

Political snapshot

It's just my opinion but it bugs me when two state legislators appear in a photo with those chosen as the Cape Chamber of Commerce's teachers of the year when I don't consider either of them to be "all-in" supporters of public education.

Gas prices

Traveling through Arnold and Festus on Sunday, we saw gas at $1.79.9 per gallon. When we pulled into Cape, it was $2.19.9. That's $.40 a gallon difference. I would bet it all comes from the same refinery.

Social Security

Not giving Social Security a raise for the third time is unacceptable. The excuse they give is disgusting. You can finally go places and enjoy the beauty of our country, which you supported your whole life. But no more increases to do it with. Seems our politicians shouldn't get a raise either; what have they done for us? They spent our Social Security money in other places where it wasn't intended to go.

Politeness, traffic

When you are driving, traffic is heavy, don't let someone out of a side street or parking lot! They assume that you have checked all lanes of traffic for them; and you probably haven't. I have been in two accidents now through the fault of these "polite" people; who by the way DID NOT stick around and tell the responding officers that they waved the person through. I have been on both sides: I was in a car waved out, in which I broke my nose AND I was the car in the lane not checked, in which my car was totaled, and I'm bumming rides.

Charges on Hillary

Had anyone else but the leading Democratic presidential candidate mishandled top secret information the way Hillary did, they would be up on charges. It is time to bring charges against her or look into who is blocking those charges.

Hotel, council

Drurytown: That's what we should change the name of our city [to] because they are who runs this town. Drury wanted to build a hotel and convention center, so the city council put it on the agenda the day before they talk about it so that there is no comments from the taxpayers of Cape. I would rather have lower water and trash rates than a convention center.

Benghazi

Hillary has already derailed her own candidacy by more than Benghazi. Hillary has baggage. The American people recognize this. This is why she doesn't win a trust award when polls are taken. I would pick your battles if you want to see Hillary elected. If it's between her and Trump, maybe she should be elected.

Transparency

According to well-documented research, public-private partnerships (PPPs) should provide more transparency during the planning process. Having a drawing of a proposed PPP in the paper one day and having it approved the next would seem to indicate that Cape's city council acted at odds with the research.

Speak English

I just called a V.A. 800 number and got someone on the other end that can't speak English. No wonder vets can't get anything done for their health. Doctors don't speak English, and you can't make a phone call to anyone that can speak English. What a screwed up world we live in.

Benghazi vs. 9/11

The Republican Congress and Jeb Bush try to hold Clinton responsible for what happened at Benghazi. However, they do not hold George W. Bush responsible for what happened at the World Trade Center. Why?
