Liberal blindness
HERE WE go with editorial cartoonist Don Greenwood again. His latest cartoon suggests that the eagle of American greatness can't fly because of big oil companies and OPEC. Did he not notice that when the economic slowdown hit, oil dropped off by half? That proves that this is all a product of market forces. Greenwood and libs of his ilk are too blinded to see the truth in these matters.
Stop-sign suggestion
I UNDERSTAND the city has finally decided to replace some stop signs with signals. Why not put one of the stop signs the city is no longer using on Spruce Street where it intersects with Boxwood Drive? It's a T intersection. Spruce Street has no stop sign, and it's a free-for-all. It doesn't help that there's a mountain of brush left from Hurricane Ike running down Boxwood Drive from Spruce Street, so you cannot see from the right when you pull out onto Boxwood Drive.
Selling stocks
THE REASON the stock market is going down is people who sell. If you sold your stocks, you are part of the problem. If people had not sold stocks when the market started going down, it wouldn't have gone so far.
Useful traffic stops
TO THE person who thinks the police would have an easier time catching arsonists and bank robbers if they weren't sitting along the side of the road catching speeders: Pulling people over for speeding finds robbers and other criminals, so it serves a valuable purpose. Speeders kill people more than bank robbers.
Sleeping with noise
MANY YEARS ago when I was working the night shift, I found that if I slept with a fan on in my bedroom, it drowned out the noise from the outside. I got used to the fan, and now I have a fan on summer and winter. There were times when I had to take some Benadryl to get to sleep, but that's the price you pay for living next to noisy people. Learn to deal with it, like so many other things in life, and move on.
Ambulance service
IN RESPONSE to the petition drive for a new ambulance service: I believe Cape County Private Ambulance has done a fantastic job in the support of the community. Higher property taxes would be needed to start this up, and how much would it cost to keep it going? Sorry, I am taxed out.
Democrats in Congress
DEMOCRATS ARE blaming the Bush administration for the economic problems. The Democrats have had control of Congress, and the president cannot do anything if Congress does not allow him to. So I think we can blame this on the Democratic Congress.
