Dogs in pickups
HAULING A dog in the back of a pickup shows how cruel some people are. The danger of injury to animals is obvious. If there's not a law, there should be one.
Storm debris
ONCE UPON A time, a big storm blew through a town. The storm -- let's call it Ike -- caused lots of tree debris to fall. The town had many piles of debris gathered up to be thrown away. One enterprising resident covered his brush pile with cobwebs when Halloween came. Now it's December. The brush pile with the cobwebs is still there. Homeowners should add Christmas ornaments and plastic icicles to the brush pile. In the spring we can throw plastic flowers into the pile. Come on, city, what are you doing? The moral of the story is don't count on the city to pick up your storm debris.
Great column
REGARDING CAL Thomas' column, "The ultimate gift," I hope everybody had a chance to read this. It's an excellent read, and God bless Cal Thomas for coming out and stating his beliefs.
Getting protection
REGARDING THE tragedy in California where a man shot six relatives: I believe when a woman applies for a restraining order there ought to be an emergency provision that allows her to also get a handgun.
Grading homework
A RECENT comment said teachers aren't paid to grade to homework at home. Some students sit for hours doing homework at home. The students aren't being paid to grade the schoolwork. That's the teacher's job.
