THIS whole deal about the post office can be explained easily. Back in the day when everyone drove a buckboard or buggy there were many places that manufactured buggy whips. When buggies were a thing of the past, all those manufacturing places had to go away. Back in the day when everyone used the mail for cards, letters and bills there were many self-sufficient postal facilities. Now with e-cards, email and electronic bill pay options, and even bills coming by email, most of these postal facilities must go away.

Creek, quarries

HAVE Jackson residents thought about what will happen to Hubble Creek, which runs right through our park? It may not happen right away, but people between Jackson and Fruitland have already taken pictures since excavation has started at the quarries of how murky Hubble Creek gets now just after a little rain.

Legislature's actions

IT saddens me beyond words that once again the Republican-controlled Missouri Legislature is trying to weaken the civil rights hard working Missourians fought for and took decades to achieve.

Class warfare

THIRTY years of economic policy that favor only the wealthy have devastated our economy. Wall Street destroyed 20 percent of middle class wealth that was accumulated over the last two centuries, then was bailed out, and no one was held accountable. Twenty-four million people are jobless. Fifty million people have no health insurance. Forty-seven million need government help just to eat, and 50 million owe more on their houses than they are worth. And some, who have not been paying attention, wonder why we are upset. Why is it only "class warfare" when we fight back?
