IF our politicians were as concerned about the debt as some of them pretend to be, all of them would give all of their political re-election money to the taxpayers to help reduce the debt and help out the people they claim need. Why don't they give their campaign funds to the needy? That would be great, wouldn't it? That would show they really care. It would impress a lot of people...

IF our politicians were as concerned about the debt as some of them pretend to be, all of them would give all of their political re-election money to the taxpayers to help reduce the debt and help out the people they claim need. Keep athletics
PEOPLE are foolish for wanting to cut athletics. The athletic program brings a lot money to Southeast Missouri State University. It would be foolish to cut the athletic program. The athletic program brings students and brings recognition to the college and university.

Respect life
AS far as we know, life on planet Earth is all there is in this universe. We should respect it -- human life, domesticated animals and nature.
Safe school
ON Monday there was a safety issue at Clippard Elementary School. The office staff and principal reacted quickly and professionally and put the school on lockdown briefly. They were wonderful. I feel my children are so safe in this school. Excellent job, Sydney Herbst, staff and teachers. God bless you all.
