I'M HEARING on the news about the failure of the new system used to track terrorists in the United States. Our politicians need the backbone to pass a law that require agencies that say they can develop a program and then don't do it to give part of that money back. There's no sense in us paying them to be failures, which is what we're doing. We reward them for not doing what they told us they could do. It's in our politicians' laps to correct this.
AS AN educator, I use a PowerPoint projector almost daily. I think it's way more beneficial than an overhead projector. You don't just show slides. You can show pictures. You can link to the Internet. You can add animation, which makes the presentation a lot more fun and enjoyable for the students. It's not a toy in the classroom. We need to use new technology to help our students.
AS I was driving on Clark Street, a woman with a cell phone glued to her ear pulled out of a side street in front of me. Had I not had good brakes and been watching my driving, I would have broadsided her. The only thing she did was wiggle her phone fingers in my direction. We need these people off the street soon because if they don't get off the street we're going to have somebody killed.
SNOW-ROUTE ordinances were passed in 1979 when we had our blizzard. I don't know why anyone is surprised that Cape Girardeau doesn't enforce its own regulations. It does this very sporadically. That's why everybody's always complaining. If the city would pick out some law and enforce it until it can convince people it is necessary to follow the law, it would stop a lot of the negative attitude people have about the police department.
AH, JOE Sullivan, there are good books to read here in Missouri all year around as well as on your vacation in Oregon. Life is what we make it, so make it good. Good reading really doesn't care what the weather's like and couldn't care less about the silver lining as it's already been found in good books. God bless you.
I SINCERELY hope Rodney Yoder receives permission to visit Florida. And please let him stay there.
