Could somebody please tell me what to do with my leftover TracFones? I would like to get rid of them, and I don't know where to go with them. Would anybody have any suggestions? Please, call into Speak Out.
I would like to thank the person who paid for our breakfast at the Huddle House recently. Hope you had a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Let's hear a big round of applause for Chris Eastridge, winner of Cape's Parks and Recreation Department employee of the year. Eastridge, a recreation specialist, is dedicated, professional and a very hard worker. In his capacity, you have to be. He is constantly making and modifying schedules for a whole slew of sports leagues offered by the city. He is virtually always on site for sports and other parks and recreation activities. Eastridge's job is not an 8-5 one. He is "on call" virtually 24 hours a day. To take on the demands of such a position, one has to be very committed to the task. The choice of Eastridge as employee of the year proves that he is not only committed but goes far above and beyond the call of duty. Congratulations, Chris!
As a longtime teacher, I enthusiastically endorse the Common Core education standards and pay tribute to the one who has been referred to as a founding father of Common Core, the one-time governor of Florida and potential Republican candidate for the presidency, the honorable Jeb Bush.
Yes, wasn't it just two weeks ago that Hillary Clinton said we have to understand these terrorists and stuff? I guess we'll have to understand why they shot those 12 people.
I find it very disrespectful for the Southeast Missourian to have the headlines read: "Police outside cop funeral turn backs on NYC mayor," which was in the headlines recently. The headline should have been regarding the assassination of two policemen and their families and the entire New York City Police Department. Very unprofessionally, disrespectful and rude. Very bad press.
Yes, I noticed the Democrats are wondering who the perfect candidate would be. Would it be Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Andrew Cuomo, Howard Dean? I've got the perfect candidate. He represents exactly what the Democrats stand for. Why not Al Sharpton? There's a man who has true Democratic credentials. He represents exactly what the Democrats stand for. I think Al Sharpton would be a shoe-in for the Democratic nomination.
Yes, this is about what they've been talking about on TV, about having civics and stuff in school, and having to memorize this. Well, I graduated from Kelly High School in the early '60s. We had Missouri history, world history and civics. We had to memorize the Preamble to the Constitution and everything. And then in Missouri history, we had to memorize all the counties and the county seats there. And we had to get at least 70 percent of everything, but we had to take a test over and over on Missouri history until we got all 114 counties and county seats correct there. And I think kids ought to have to memorize some of this stuff.
