Brainwashed students

PROBABLY WORSE than having a preacher express his or her political leanings is the tendency of many teachers, from elementary levels through college, to impose their political views on their students. Looking back on our years in school, then our children's and now our grandchildren's, it's fairly obvious that the educational system is one of the best environments for brainwashing.

Negative psychology

I WANT a minister to tell me how to vote so I can feel more confident that I've done the right thing by voting for the candidate he opposes.

Paying for terrorism

OUR WELFARE rolls increase everyday. Illegal aliens continue to come over our southern borders and receive free education and health care. They do not pay taxes, but they receive welfare. Now, al-Qaida is using lax border policies to enter our country through our southern border. We make sure they get free education, health care and tax free dollars to carry on their mission to destroy us. In the mean time we pay for it, and apparently we are glad to it. It is time to stop it. Our politicians are supposed to protect us.

Explanation needed

AS A member of the committee to reduce spending for the Cape Girardeau School District, I am concerned as to the other $1 million-plus of items that were listed and submitted to the superintendent for reducing spending. Only $1 million-plus was approved. Now school officials are testing the waters to raise taxes without the taxpayers' vote. I think we deserve a better explanation than what we have been given.

Somebody said OK

I HAVE been a general contractor all of my business life. It sounds to me like the Cape Girardeau School District has a whole lot of people making a whole lot of money and doing a whole lot of nothing for it. Whoever approved an air-conditioning system that didn't work from the start should be looking for a new job. The taxpayers of the school district deserve better than this.

Extreme limits

THOUGH THEY have souls, people are animals. Does Cape Girardeau's new ordinance limit the number of children I can have?

All in the family

LEAVE THE Hispanics alone. If it hadn't been for Hispanics immigrating to America I wouldn't have met my wife. He father was a Hispanic immigrant.

For a good cause

I HAVE had long hair for many years. After reading the article about the girl who had the same cancer as my mother-in-law, I decided I needed to help. I read about a marathon and raising money for cancer patients. I didn't have any money to contribute, but I did have my long hair that I could contribute. It took me a while to get up the courage to cut it off, but I did it. I sent it into Locks of Love to help out someone in need. I have had a lot of comments on my short hair, but I cut it for a good cause. Thanks for having such a nice article and inspiring me to do something good.
