I had the opportunity on Jan. 24 to work with and witness the outstanding service of two Southeast Missouri State University sororities: Gamma Sigma Sigma and Alpha Chi Omega. These sorority members volunteered their Saturday night to help at the benefit auction for my niece and her family whose daughter is a patient at St. Jude's Research Hospital in Memphis. The girls had outstanding work ethics. They were eager to help wherever needed and did it all in a friendly, cheerful and loving way. I heard nothing but compliments from the people attending the auction on how much they appreciated the girls being there. In a world where so much bad publicity is given to college students, I wanted to let everyone in Southeast Missouri know that these girls went above their call of service to help their neighbor, especially since none of the girls knew or was related to the family. Thanks again, Gamma Sigma Sigma and Alpha Chi Omega. Southeast Missouri University should be very proud of you.
